設定に従うのであれば、ウルトラマンタロウは1万年と2千年前からこの宇宙に存在していたはずである。
しかし第1話がタロウの誕生でもあるのだが……であるならば、そこには矛盾も生じる。

自由に生命をやり取りし、何が誕生で何が死かわからない彼らであるから
……凡百の生命体のひとつであるこちらとしては、出されたものを受け入れるしかない。
やはりM78星雲の宇宙人とは、我々とは異質な存在なのだと考えるよりない。
