近未来もの、というジャンル分けができるのかどうか不明だが、
制作時点、放送時点、上映時点での近未来を舞台にしたフィクションはよく作られる。
たとえば「ウルトラマン」であり「ウルトラセブン」である。「パトレイバー」もそう。
「エヴァンゲリオン」ももうすぐ過去ものになりつつある。……その前に「マクロス」が過去になるか。
大阪万博等で示されたポストモダンは、結局訪れることはなかった。
近未来ものというのは進むべき未来を示すという役割もあるのかもしれない。
しかし今、西暦2007年の時点でこれらの作品群を見ると虚しさを感じる。あるいは郷愁。
いったい我々はどこで間違えてしまったのだろう？
フィクションの中の世界で描かれていた「輝ける未来」はどこに行ったのか？
というより、そもそも「輝ける未来」とは何だったのだろうか？
現実の閉塞感に自らが潰されそうだ。
