教授は莫大な財産を残しており、3人の子供である松子、竹夫、梅子の誰が相続することになるのか、
世間の注目が集まっていた。
一方、大学での教授職を巡って、出世欲に憑りつかれた男･松岡は権謀術数により、
大学内での地位を着々と固めつつあった。
